A faster flowing River which twists and turns it’s way through suburbia with little” surprises” and interesting paddling features lurking here and there.
Starting out from Merton Abbey Mill, there is a shallow seal launch which has even managed to catch out one of the club coaches.
The Wandle is an attractive paddle despite weaving between factories and sharing the water with sunken, Tesco trolleys, motorbikes and the odd milk float! There is plenty to keep you entertained such as play waves under roads, drunken hobos, the odd rapid or two and rock throwing kids. Then to finish off, there is a paddle in complete darkness through the tunnel going under Wandsworth’s Arndale shopping centre.
A different and always popular trip. Urban Paddling at it’s best
