Croydon Active Paddlers Canoe Club's website.
are an established club based in and around Croydon in
South London. We are currently a small friendly bunch of paddlers who organise
regular kayaking trips all over the country and to local rivers, on a year round
basis.
Pool Sessions
From September to April we run fortnightly
Wednesday night pool sessions at Banstead Leisure Centre. An ideal opportunity
to sample Kayaking for the first time, under expert supervision, in this very
large heated indoor swimming pool.
Beginners
We welcome beginners and our qualified coaches
can help you with your first steps onto the water. Once you've got the hang of
the basics we will welcome you on suitable day trips to build up your skills and
confidence on different types of water.Check out the events page for details of
our upcoming flatwater trips.
We also organize training and assessment sessions
towards the various BCU awards.
White Water Paddlers
Despite the effects of Global Warning, with less
and less rain each year, we still manage to organise a number of weekends away
each Winter, paddling challenging Whitewater Rivers in the likes of Devon,
North and South Wales. Some of our members manage to travel further afield in
their hunt for big volume rivers including trips to France, Italy, Norway and
Scotland.
We have members that are happy paddling up to Grade 5 and also enjoy the
delights of Weir Bashing at the likes of Hurley and Chertsey Weirs. If you're an
experienced paddler looking for some buddies to paddle with, we could be just
the people!
Nestle Kit Kat
For 2008 we have been appointed by Nestle Kit
Kat to co-ordinate their Kayaking Experience sessions in the area and we are the
only Club within about a fifty mile radius to do so. We are running a number of
daytrips and are pleased to be able to introduce people from a wide radius
around London to the joys of Kayaking. We currently have in excess of 50 people
booked on these sessions.
Other Activities
Over the years we've organised a number of weekends and days Kayak surfing,
climbing, gorge walking, go karting, banger racing, coasteering and caving. Most
of these take place over the summer months so check out the events page.
Most of activities end up with a sociable pint at a local Inn. We are
friendly crowd and welcome, couples, singles and families, please do come along
and get involved.
